THE
CHURCH - At the entrance to the church a projecting hood moulding
with short horizontal returns frames two sets of plain roll mouldings
supported by two pairs of detached columns.
The simple leaf decoration on the capitals is largely obscured by a thick layer of white-wash. A single crocket on the angle separates the capitals. The column bases are French in style, well proportioned, and include a spur ornament set against the lower roll. The porch walls were originally plastered and painted, but the fragment remaining above the doorway is modern. previous picture close window next picture |
