The present-day tarmac road from Kyrenia forks just before Ozanköy, and then snakes up the hill to Bellapais. Before the final bend sweeps into the village, the abbey can be viewed to advantage across the valley to the east, silhouetted in the morning, and glowing with rich ochres in the last rays of the setting sun.
