GAZI MAGUSA (FAMAGUSTA) - Above the gateway of the entrance to the Tower, pierced through the Venetian fortifications which date from between 1500 and 1550, is a marble slab on which is sculptured the badge of Venice, a winged lion (Captain Nicola Foscarini, 1492), so frequently seen in other parts of Cyprus such as Girne Castle, Nicosia, and Bellapais Abbey.
